[cite_start]

This document is designed to cover all training policies for the Virtual Israeli Air Force (vIAF). [cite: 76] [cite_start]This document is updated to remain in compliance with VATSIM following policies: CoC, SOA-POL and to follow the high standards of the vIAF. [cite: 77]

VSOA Training [cite: 84]

[cite_start]

vIAF adopts the VATSIM Policy for Special Operations as its guiding document, which copy is available there [cite: 85] [cite_start]As a partner we follow the following training requirement as written in section 7.4 “Training requirement” [cite: 86]

  • [cite_start]
  • One hour of aircraft familiarization in VFR conditions verifying that a pilot can maintain control of an aircraft on the ground and in the air. [cite: 87] [cite_start]Training must include the following: ATC communication, ground handling, and pattern work. [cite: 88]
  • [cite_start]
  • Two hours of navigation exercises involving the use of one or more of the following: VOR/NDB/DME/GPS radio systems as well as flight planning, runway selection, executing a radial, overhead breaks, and simulated stall and recovery in VFR conditions both day and night. [cite: 89]
  • [cite_start]
  • Three hours of navigation exercises involving the use of the following: VOR/NDB/DME/GPS radio systems in IFR conditions to include flight instruments and navigation training, flight planning to include cross country flight, holding procedures, completing precision and non- precision approaches (VOR, DME, GPS, TACAN, & ILS) and missed approaches in day and night conditions. [cite: 90]
  • [cite_start]
  • Four hours of advanced online flight training experience in utilizing aircraft for their designed purpose, such as, fighter, bomber, tanker, cargo, surveillance, carrier operations, etc. to include the following: engine failure at take-off and in-flight, overhead breaks, low level flight, aerial refuelling, airdrops, ACM, weapons deployment, and formation flying based on aircraft capabilities. [cite: 91]
[cite_start]

For VSOA that do not perform militaristic operations the training requirements shall be focused on the primary operations of the group [cite: 92] [cite_start]Pilots must demonstrate a general knowledge of Military Training Routes, rules/limitations in Restricted Areas, and Military Operating Areas. [cite: 93] [cite_start]Demonstrate required knowledge regarding locating the proper Air to Air Refuelling Route and how to enter same. [cite: 94] [cite_start]Demonstrate the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, encompassing special military maneuvers and operations. [cite: 95]

  • [cite_start]
  • All training records are to be kept and presented to the VSOD upon request. [cite: 96]
  • [cite_start]
  • All VSO partners are permitted to "fast-track" new recruits only if they have been verified as a certified VSO pilot in another VATSIM approved VSO. [cite: 97]
  • [cite_start]
  • All candidates within each Special Operations Partner can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL),. [cite: 98] [cite_start]It is at the discretion of that Partner & Special Operations CFI to grant such applications. [cite: 99]
  • [cite_start]
  • Any Military Pilot Rating is transferrable between Special Operations Partners [cite: 100]
[cite_start]

To maintain the high standard of vIAF and the VSOA policy this policy has been made. [cite: 101]

[cite_start]

Instructors [cite: 102]

[cite_start]

Daniel kushnir (vIAF-2) will appoint instructors from the pilot roaster. [cite: 103] [cite_start]These instructors are selected due to their ability to teach knowledge and develop the flying skills of another members. [cite: 104] [cite_start]The instructors themselves have “teaching qualifications program” to make sure each “STEP” is performed to its best. [cite: 105] [cite_start]If you believe the that you may be a good instructor (Either by prior experience in teaching or military flying) You should contact either your wing commander or vIAF-2 to start the training to become an instructor [cite: 106] [cite_start]As we continue to develop our courses the instructors are the control group to improve each draft. [cite: 107] [cite_start]As being an instructor require to be in high level of leadership and professionalism the appointment can be suspended or withdrawn by vIAF-2 [cite: 108]

[cite_start]

Trainee/Candidate Management [cite: 109]

[cite_start]

The vIAF utilize DISCORD for coordination and for 1 on 1 training. [cite: 110] [cite_start]On joining vIAF each individual will have an individual training thread located on #Flight Academy with the tag for each student. [cite: 111] [cite_start]The thread is confidential and only instructors and the candidate himself can see the case. [cite: 112] [cite_start]All training matter are to be posted in that thread. [cite: 113] [cite_start]It serves as the primary evidence for an audit by VSOD and therefore needs to be accurate. [cite: 114] [cite_start]IF that thread disappears, it is only because they have a “show if active” timer on them. [cite: 115] [cite_start]It is expected that each member engaged in a course will finish the course within 30 days and access their thread as needed. [cite: 116] [cite_start]The thread may be backed up unless other requested with CID only at the VSOA management drive folder [cite: 117]

Application and Joining process [cite: 118]

[cite_start]

Any person wishing to join vIAF and to start initial Training to become a VSO Certified Pilot must have the following conditions: [cite: 119]

  • [cite_start]
  • An active VATSIM account – See here [cite: 120]
  • [cite_start]
  • Records to show that you have flown for minimums of 100 hours on VATSIM network. [cite: 121] [cite_start]\\ Exception may be to 50 hours on the networks on prior experience on DCS or any other military simulator with the approval of the training director [cite: 122]
  • [cite_start]
  • A clean VATSIM record in regards to violations especially within other VSOA partners. [cite: 123]
[cite_start]

Any person who feels they may have suitable real-world experience can make contact with vIAF 2 to determine whether this minimum requirement could be waived in their specific circumstances. [cite: 124]

[cite_start]

Training process [cite: 125]

[cite_start]

The following schematic provides an overview of the vIAF training provided and the pathway to use obtain certification for operations. [cite: 126] [cite_start]You are not approved to flight any operation online without success of the required unit/stage . [cite: 127] [cite_start]All of the training will be recorded with SmartCARS3 [cite: 128]

[cite_start]

Stage 3 [cite: 129]

  • [cite_start]
  • Helicopter Wings -- UH60 – 3 flights Based out of Palmahim (LLPL) as C\S HOREV [cite: 130]
  • [cite_start]
  • Trnsport wing – [cite: 131] [cite_start]C130\ C30J -2 flights Based out of Nevatim (LLNV) as C\S METROKC135 REEM – 4 Flight Based out of of LLNG (Negev) as C/S MLODY [cite: 132]
  • [cite_start]
  • Fighter wing -- [cite: 133] [cite_start]F16 – 4 Flight based out of LLRD as c/s TOREMF15 – 5 Flight based out of LLHB/LLEK as c/s AGADA [cite: 134]
[cite_start]

Each training stage is specified (resources exercises etc.) [cite: 135] [cite_start]**All stages info and briefing shall be available in discord in the channel of training material for any member of the VSOA [cite: 136]

[cite_start]

Fast track (Prior learning) [cite: 137]

[cite_start]

This pathway is generally only open to an existing VSO Certified Pilot who is active with another VSOA Partner. [cite: 138] [cite_start]It also requires the Special Operations Chief Flight Instructor (VSODCFI) approval prior to being approved. [cite: 139]

[cite_start]

certification as VSO Certified Pilot [cite: 140]

[cite_start]

Upon completion of stage 3 training the instructor will recommend to the assigned wing leader whether or not you are acceptable as a VSO certified pilot. [cite: 141] [cite_start]You will be notified it successful [cite: 142]
